Kebbi LG Service Commission settles 112 Senior Staff tuition fees

No fewer than 112 Senior Staff of the Local Government Employees studying in different institutions across the country have been paid  their tuition fees.

Addressing the recipients on Tuesday at the designated payment center in Birnin Kebbi, the Executive Chairman, Local Government Service Commission, Alhaji Garba Ashiru said the gesture was part of the present administration's commitment in streamlining the civil service.

He explained that 112 local government senior staff that received their benefit were currently undergoing regular courses in various institutions of higher learning across the country.

"The payment of this tuition fees comprises those studying M.Sc, BSc, HND, ND and professional courses in different fields covering; Engineering, Accounting and Health related courses.

"The event is part of the routine exercise of the commission towards ensuring effective and regular training of local government workers in the state," he said.

He added that the disbursement was officially flagged off by the chairman of the commission under the supervision of Permanent Commissioner.

The chairman said the gesture was directly given to beneficiaries individually, adding that the amount received depended on the course of study.

The chairman described education as the most powerful weapon that could be used to change the world, hence the decision of the commission to equip young minds with such a powerful weapon.

Ashiru assured the readiness of the commission under his watch to strengthen the local government workforce with current and consistent technology, skills, knowledge and advancement.

He also described the payment of the students as highly rewarding in achieving qualified and well motivated workforce required in the provision of efficient and effective service delivery at various local government areas of the state.

He then commended the efforts of the present administration under the able leadership of Comrade Dr Nasir Idris for its continued support to the commission and timely release of monthly statutory allocation meant for training of the local government staff.
