The Emir of Gwandu and the Chairman, Kebbi State Council of Traditional Rulers, Maj.-Gen. Iliyasu Bashir (rtd.) has urged Kebbi people and Nigerians to continue to pray for their leaders rather than coursing their leadership style.
He gave this advice on Friday when the Kebbi State Governor, Comrade Dr Nasir Idris paid him a condolence visit over the demise of his sister, Hajiya Maina Haruna Rasheed, who passed away on Thursday in Birnin Kebbi after a protracted illness.
The Royal Father described the habit of accusing leaders as a very dangerous trend, observing that no society would progress where masses insult their leaders.
He stressed the need for all and sundry to focus attention on anything that would foster peace and unity in the society to pave way for a better society.
While describing the death of his sister, Emir of Zuru and that of president Muhammadu Buhari as shocking, the Emir prayed to Almighty Allah to forgive their shortcomings and grant them Jannatul Firdaus.
In his remarks, the Kebbi State Governor, Comrade Dr Nasir Idris thanked the emir for his fatherly support "towards the success of my administration."
He said the aim of his visit was to condole with the Royal Father over the death of his sister, whom he described as a mother and mentor, who guided and directed people into doing good.
The governor then prayed to Almighty Allah to give her eternal rest and urged the emir and other members of the family to take heart.
