Kebbi governor convenes emergency security meeting over emerging threats

Kebbi State Governor, Comrade Dr. Nasir Idris, has convened an emergency security meeting to review the security situation in the state and strengthen measures aimed at tackling emerging threats.

The meeting, which brought together key security stakeholders, focused on reviewing and reinforcing existing security strategies to ensure a more coordinated response to criminal activities and enhance the protection of lives and property across the state.

Briefing journalists after the meeting, the Commissioner for Home Affairs and Internal Security, Hon. Haliru Wasagu, said the governor convened the meeting as part of efforts to bolster the state’s security architecture amid emerging security challenges in some parts of Kebbi.

He said the discussions centred on fine-tuning existing security strategies and improving collaboration among security agencies to effectively address security threats.

According to Wasagu, Governor Idris remains committed to ensuring the safety of residents and will continue to support security agencies in maintaining peace, law and order across the state.

“Our Governor is fully committed to flushing out criminal elements and dismantling their hideouts. Anyone found engaging in criminal activities will face the full weight of the law,” he said.

The commissioner appealed to residents to support security agencies by providing timely and credible information that would aid efforts to identify, arrest and prosecute criminal elements.

He stressed that greater public vigilance and cooperation with security agencies would significantly enhance the fight against crime.

Wasagu also commended security personnel in the state for their dedication, professionalism and sacrifices in sustaining peace, stability and public safety across Kebbi State.
