Politicians Target High-Performing Ministers in President Tinubu's Cabinet, Says Arewa Group

By Editor

The Northern Awareness Network (NAN) has revealed a purported plot by disgruntled politicians to dismantle President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's support base.

According to NAN chairman Salihu Sulaiman, the plan involves targeting nine high-performing ministers and cabinet officials who are believed to be instrumental in securing victory for President Tinubu in future elections.

The NAN claims to have uncovered a scheme that aims to weaken the bond between these officials and President Tinubu, thereby diminishing his chances of a second term return in 2023.

The targeted officials include Nyeson Wike, Hon Olubunmi Tunji Ojo, Abubakar Bagudu, Bello Matawalle, Hannatu Musawa, Femi Gbajamiala, Yusuf Bicci and Festus Keyamo.

These individuals have been singled out for attacks and disrespectful treatment in an apparent attempt to undermine their influence and effectiveness in supporting President Tinubu's reelection bid.

"The plan to target high-performing ministers and cabinet officials who have been instrumental in securing victory for President Tinubu in future elections is a deeply troubling revelation," said Sulaiman.

The achievements of these officials in their respective ministries have been cited as potential threats to the opposition's efforts to undermine President Tinubu's reelection prospects.

Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), has implemented various infrastructure projects to improve the living conditions of residents in the territory. Hon Olubunmi Tunji Ojo, the Minister of Interior, has been instrumental in strengthening the country's security and law enforcement agencies. Abubakar Bagudu, the Minister of Budget, has successfully managed and allocated resources for various developmental projects.

Yusuf Bicci, the Director-General of the State Security Service (SSS), has played a crucial role in safeguarding national security. Their achievements have made a significant impact on the development of Nigeria and have contributed to the overall welfare and prosperity of its citizens.

Festus Keyamo, the Minister of Aviation, has been driving reforms and modernization efforts in the aviation sector. His initiatives have enhanced safety standards, improved infrastructure, and promoted efficiency in air travel. Keyamo's vision for a world-class aviation industry in Nigeria has positioned the country as a regional hub for air transportation. His leadership and innovation make him a key player in President Tinubu's administration.

The NAN says this plot underscores the need to uphold the principles of democracy, accountability, and the rule of law. President Tinubu and his administration should remain vigilant to the machinations of these unscrupulous power-hungry politicians and continue to work collaboratively with these high-performing officials.

"President Tinubu must remain vigilant and discerning, avoiding any traps that could jeopardize the success of his administration. It is imperative that he continues to foster strong relationships with these key players, who serve as the supportive pillars of his government. By standing firm against attempts to sow discord and division, President Tinubu can ensure the continuity of his administration's success and the realization of his vision for a prosperous and secure Nigeria," the NAN said.

Wike's commitment to excellence and his ability to deliver results make him a valuable asset to the Tinubu administration.

His leadership and innovation make him a key player in President Tinubu's administration," Shettima said.

Abubakar Bagudu, the Minister of Budget, has been instrumental in managing the nation's finances and ensuring fiscal responsibility. His strategic planning and budgeting skills have helped steer the country towards economic stability and growth. Bagudu's prudent financial management has earned him respect and admiration within the administration.

Bello Matawalle, the Minister of Defence State, has been pivotal in strengthening the nation's security and military capabilities. His leadership and proactive measures have led to significant gains in the fight against terrorism and insurgency. Matawalle's unwavering commitment to protecting the nation's sovereignty and safeguarding its citizens makes him an invaluable member of the President's team.

Her initiatives have brought recognition and acclaim to Nigerian artists and performers, showcasing the country's creative talents to the world. Musawa's passion for preserving and promoting culture makes her a cultural ambassador for President Tinubu's administration.

He noted that while these ministers and officials have achieved remarkable success in their respective roles, it is important for President Tinubu to remain vigilant and cautious against the machinations of self-seeking politicians.

"We are in possession of credible classified information that President Tinubu's political adversaries both outside and entrenched deep inside the presidency are trying to undermine him by targeting his key allies and supporters. In the run-up to the 2027 reelection, it is imperative that President Tinubu does not fall for the trap of those who seek to weaken his support base and destabilize his administration," he said.

Shettima pointed out that it is crucial for President Tinubu to recognize the value and contributions of particularly these targeted ministers and officials, and to continue to build on the solid foundation that they have helped to create. Their dedication, leadership, and expertise have been instrumental in driving the country's progress and development, and in advancing the President's agenda.

"As the 2027 reelection approaches, it is imperative for President Tinubu to remain vigilant against those who seek to weaken his support base, and to continue to rely on the talented and dedicated team of individuals who have been crucial in his administration's success. By maintaining strong relationships with his key supporters and allies, President Tinubu can ensure that his administration remains strong and united in the face of political challenges and adversity," he said.

Agitations in the North aimed at blocking Tinubu in 2027, says AYCF

Yerima Shetima

By Eidtor

The Arewa Youth Consultative Forum (AYCF) has raised serious concerns regarding the ongoing disruptions and agitations in the North since the assumption of power by the Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Kashim Shettima administration in 2023.

The President General of AYCF, Yerima Shettima, has attributed these agitations to a desperate section of the northern political elite who are allegedly plotting to prevent President Tinubu from seeking re-election in 2027.

According to Shettima, there is a deliberate effort by certain politicians in the North to set unrealistic and unattainable standards for the Tinubu administration, with the aim of discrediting the government and swaying public opinion against President Tinubu.

This campaign of vilification and destabilization is reportedly part of a broader strategy to weaken President Tinubu's support base in the North, with Minister of State Defence Bello Mohammed Matawalle being singled out as a primary target.

According to Shettima, the continuous attacks on key allies of President Tinubu, such as Matawalle, are part of a broader scheme to destabilize the government and prevent Tinubu's potential reelection for a second term. The AYCF views these actions as desperate attempts by power seekers to halt the administration's progress and reverse its anti-corruption efforts.

"Matawalle, a staunch supporter of the Tinubu administration, has been subjected to relentless attacks and smear campaigns in a bid to undermine President Tinubu's alliances in the North. The AYCF views these actions as a calculated attempt to dismantle the President's support network and thwart his chances of securing a second term in office.

Describing the efforts of the anti-Tinubu forces as too early in the day, the AYCF has warned against the deliberate propagation of false narratives and the use of obscure groups such as a certain Arewa Youth Forum and many more to come, to undermine the President's allies and tarnish his reputation.

"In the face of the unfolding, the AYCF calls on President Tinubu and his team to remain vigilant and resolute in their commitment to the nation's progress. We urge the President to be wary of the propaganda campaigns being orchestrated against his administration, and to stay focused on delivering on his promises to the Nigerian people.

"It is imperative for the government to stay focused on its goals, remain resilient in the face of these challenges, and work towards ensuring a stable and prosperous future for Nigeria. The administration must anticipate and counteract these moves in order to safeguard the progress and development of the nation.

"As a group dedicated to the advancement of our beloved country Nigeria, the AYCF finds it ridiculous for any group to assess and judge an administration that is barely one year old against a set of incredible expectations; against fair standards of judgment, including the judgment from the government's political opponents, against developments and circumstances that no one knew the nation will confront, and even against the failures and abuses the nation is having to pay for from the previous administrations," Shettima pointed out.

Northern Emancipation tells EFCC to stop hunt for Yahaya Bello, says court must be obeyed

By Editor

The Northern Emancipation Network, NEN has called on calls on the EFCC to respect the rule of law and await the judgment from the Court of Appeal before taking any further action against Yahaya Bello.

Urging EFCC to suspend its witch hunt for the former governor, chairman of the group, Suleiman Abba’s in a statement  condemned the recent actions taken by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in declaring former Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello wanted.

Abba in his statement said: “The Northern Emancipation Network (NEN) would like to address the recent declaration of former Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello as wanted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

“We believe that upholding the rule of law is essential in any democracy, and the circumstances surrounding Yahaya Bello's case demand a fair and just approach.

“The NEN expresses deep concern over the actions taken by the EFCC in declaring Yahaya Bello wanted. While we acknowledge the EFCC's authority to declare someone wanted, we believe that the unique circumstances of Yahaya Bello's case warrant a more cautious and respectful approach to the rule of law.

“It is important to note that Yahaya Bello sought legal recourse by going to court to prevent the EFCC from arresting him. A high court granted an interim order which restrained the EFCC from taking any further action. Subsequently, the EFCC appealed this decision to the Court of Appeal, resulting in a scheduled judgment set for Monday.

“Given the pending judgment from the Court of Appeal, it is perplexing why the EFCC would proceed to declare Yahaya Bello wanted. This action raises questions about the integrity of the legal process and the adherence to due process.

“While the arrest and interrogation are crucial steps in the investigative process, the filing of charges and subsequent court proceedings mark a significant shift in the legal journey of Yahaha Bello.
Once charges were filed, his interactions with the investigating authorities come to an end, as focus shifts to the court proceedings.

“This marks the formal beginning of the legal process, where the accused has the opportunity to defend himself against the allegations brought forth by the prosecuting authorities.

“Therefore, the arrest and interrogation of Yahaya Bello served as initial steps in the investigative process, while the filing of charges and court proceedings constitute a more structured and legalistic approach to addressing the allegations.

“ It is in the courtroom where his fate will be decided, and where his innocence or guilt will be determined based on the evidence presented and the arguments made by both sides.

“The NEN calls on the EFCC to respect the rule of law and await the judgment from the Court of Appeal before taking any further action against Yahaya Bello. Upholding the principles of justice and fairness is essential to maintaining the credibility of our legal system and ensuring that all individuals are treated with respect and dignity.

“We urge the EFCC to exercise restraint and adhere to the legal process in dealing with the case of Yahaya Bello. It is imperative that we uphold the rule of law and protect the rights of all individuals, regardless of their status or position. Let us work together to ensure that justice is served and that our democracy remains strong and resilient.”

AYCF tells EFCC to stop harassing Yahya Bello

By Editor

The Arewa Youths Consultative Forum (AYCF) has called on the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to respect the rule of law and halt the persecution, harassment and public embarrassment of the former governor of Kogi State Yahaya Bello.

Reacting to the recent declaration of Yahaya Bello as wanted by the EFCC, the AYCF President General Yerima Shettima noted that the fact that the EFCC has already charged Bello to court warrants that they show restraint and allow the law to take its due course as it presumes the conclusion of investigations.

According to Shettima, with this development, Bello no longer has anything to do with the EFCC and he only needs to appear in court on the next adjourned date or when he is served with the court processes.

"if EFCC actually believes in injustice, and   in the judiciary and in the court system, this is not the way to handle the matter.

"Besides, the charge sheet was from 2015, and was amended to 2016. Three weeks when Bello came into the office, you can see that something is fishing, which no one can say exactly what is happening," Shettima said.

The AYCF said it is indeed curious that the EFCC is presenting Yahaya Bello as someone who is running from investigation and prosecution, especially considering the lack of concrete evidence to support such claims.

Bello's residence has been invaded, he has been declared wanted, and he has been placed on a watchlist, all without any indication as to whether or not he was ever invited by the EFCC for questioning.

"In the interest of transparency and fairness, it is imperative that the EFCC provide the public with the necessary information regarding Bello's alleged evasion of investigation. This includes releasing the invitation letter sent to Bello, detailing the date it was received and who received it. By doing so, the EFCC can ensure that all parties involved are aware of the facts and can make informed judgments based on concrete evidence.

"It is crucial for law enforcement agencies to operate with the utmost integrity and accountability. This includes providing accurate and timely information to the public, especially in high-profile cases such as this. By releasing the invitation letter to Yahaya Bello, the EFCC can demonstrate its commitment to upholding the rule of law and promoting transparency in its investigations," Shettima said.

The AYCF is calling on the EFCC to respect the principles of justice, fairness, and due process. Targeting individuals for political reasons or personal vendettas undermines the credibility of the anti-corruption fight in Nigeria. Shettima stressed that if the EFCC truly believes in the judiciary and the court system, they must allow the legal process to unfold without unnecessary interference or intimidation.

The AYCF is urging the EFCC to reconsider their approach in handling the case of Yahaya Bello. The continued harassment and persecution of individuals, especially those in positions of authority, erode public trust in the fight against corruption.

It is essential that the EFCC operates within the confines of the law and respects the rights of all individuals, including those under investigation. Let us uphold the rule of law and ensure that justice is served without bias or prejudice.

Ohanaeze Ndigbo youth warns EFCC against Yayha Bello’s arrest, says court order should be obeyed

By Editor

Apex Igbo socio-cultural organisation, Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Council has urged the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, to respect the subsisting court order with respect to the planned arrest of former Kogi State governor, Yahaya Bello.

It could be recalled that the EFCC had in the law a few days made an attempt to arrest the governor.

However, the Bello’s media handlers say this was against an order of the Kogi State High Court, which granted injunction against the commission.

The planned arrest is said to be contrary to a subsisting court order granted February 9, 2024 by the Kogi State High Court of Justice, Lokoja Division, in Suit No. HCL/68M/2024 between Alhaji Yahaya Bello Vs. EFCC, restraining the Commission either by itself or its agents from harassing, arresting, detaining or prosecuting him, pending the hearing and determination of the substantive fundamental rights enforcement action.

The EFCC is said to have appealed the order in Appeal No.: CA/ABJ/CV/175/2024, with the matter adjourned to 22nd day of April 2024.

In a statement made available to the media on Friday, the Public Relations Officer of Ohaneze Ndigbo Youth Council, Mr Chimaobi Ezejiofor said it was curious that the EFCC could not wait to exhaust the legal opportunities before clamping down on Bello.

Ezejiofor said government agencies should be at the forefront of respect to the rule of law, stressing that “having submitted itself to the courts by filing an appeal as well a stay of execution, one had expected that the EFCC should respect the res, but in this case it chose to be take laws into its hands.

“This should not be heard of any government agency, as it is suggestive of desperation and ill-motiveness.”

The group urged the commission to respect the sanctity of the courts by allowing the Appeal Court to determine the case one way or the other.

He said, “it is trite in law that once a matter is in court, both parties should maintain status quo until it is decided one way or the other. This is what we expect from the EFCC as an agency of government.

“The current action is tantamount to an assault on the rule of law and goes to show this could be a witch-hunt of some sort.

“Also, declaring the former governor wanted at this point over a matter that is before the Court of Appeal is not the right step to take.

“We, therefore, urge the Commission to enable the law to run its course and not be in haste to the extent of offending the laws.”
