Hajj 2024: Worthless commendation by PDP - Kebbi Govt.
The Kebbi State Government (KBSG) has described the commendation of 2024 Hajj by the leading opposition party in the state as worthless and hypocritical.
Reacting to a statement titled: "PDP welcomes 2024 pilgrims and calls for full accountability", Alhaji Ahmed Idris, Chief Press Secretary to Kebbi State Governor said the statement was neither for the good of the state nor its people.
"This statement is just a calculated attempt to create confusion amongst the good people of kebbi State. However, people are now very conscious of what His Excellency, Comrade Dr Nasir Idris Kauran Gwandu is doing to liberate the atat and bring positive change to it.
"We give glory to Allah (SWT), the governor has started on a very sound footing and he will continue to do so, until he achieves his desired mission and vision of transforming the state is fully achieved.
"Therefore, I want to appeal to all good people of the state to ignore the calls and agitation of PDP as it is contrary to the overall interest and development of the state," he said.
Idris described the call by PDP as a strategy to distract the attention of the present APC led-administration in the state from achieving its core mandate of delivering the dividends of democracy to nuks and crannies of the state.

Groups Stands on Upholding Bail Rights for Abba Kyari
By Editor
The Northern Awareness Network (NAN) has issued a stern warning against any attempt to tamper with the bail granted to Abba Kyari, emphasizing that such actions would be deemed unacceptable and vigorously challenged.
In a statement released by NAN Chairman, Salihu Suleiman, it was highlighted that the right to bail serves as a fundamental principle of the legal system in Nigeria. It is intended to protect individuals like Abba Kyari from arbitrary detention and ensure that justice is carried out in a fair and impartial manner.
Suleiman emphasized that in cases where offenses are bailable, it is presumed that the accused should be allowed to await trial outside of custody unless there are substantial reasons to believe that they may pose a flight risk, endanger public safety, or interfere with the judicial process.
Regarding Abba Kyari, a prominent figure in Nigerian law enforcement, NAN expressed concerns over the attempts to restrict his full freedom despite no evidence of posing a flight risk, threat to public safety, or history of violations.
The NAN warned that In light of recent events surrounding the case of Abba Kyari, it is crucial that any decision to tamper with an accused's bail is made based on objective evidence and legal principles, rather than personal bias or prejudice.
"The court responsible for trying Abba Kyari must carefully consider all relevant factors before taking such a serious step. This should only be done in situations where there is a compelling reason to believe that the accused cannot be safely free pending trial.
"Tampering with an accused's bail should be a measure of last resort, reserved for exceptional circumstances where the interests of justice and the protection of the community outweigh the presumption of innocence and the right to liberty. It is essential that the courts act in accordance with the principles of fairness, transparency, and the rule of law to ensure that the rights of all individuals are respected.
"Any decision to deny Abba Kyari the full freedom to enjoy his bail should be met with resistance and challenge if it is deemed to be in contravention of legal principles and the right to fair treatment.
"NAN stands firm in its commitment to upholding the rights of individuals, including Abba Kyari, to fair and just legal processes without unwarranted interference," Suleiman said.
AYCF Speaks Out Against Attempts to Limit Abba Kyari's Freedom
By Editor
The Arewa Youth Consultative Forum (AYCF) has expressed deep concern over recent attempts to tamper with the freedom of Abba Kyari, a prominent Nigerian police officer currently facing legal proceedings.
The AYCF condemns any actions that undermine the concept of bail, which plays a crucial role in upholding justice and fairness in the legal system.
In a statement released by the President General Yerima Shettima, the AYCF underscored the significance of bail as a fundamental right that allows individuals accused of crimes to maintain their liberty while awaiting trial. Bail, when granted in cases of bailable offenses, enables the accused to resume their daily activities under specified court-imposed conditions.
Yerima Shettima emphasized that Abba Kyari was granted bail within the bounds of the law, and there was no evidence of him violating the terms of his release or obstructing the course of justice.
Despite this, AYCF has observed alarming reports suggesting attempts to intimidate and harass individuals on bail, raising serious concerns about the protection of legal rights.
The AYCF calls for the preservation of the rule of law and the safeguarding of individuals' rights to fair treatment within the legal system.
In light of recent events regarding the bail of Abba Kyari, it is crucial to emphasize that tampering with an accused's bail should only be considered in exceptional circumstances.
The interests of justice and the protection of the community must be key considerations when contemplating the restriction of an individual's liberty.
Courts must act in accordance with principles of fairness, transparency, and the rule of law to ensure that the rights of all individuals, including the presumption of innocence and the right to liberty, are respected.
Any decision to deny Abba Kyari the full freedom to enjoy his bail should be met with resistance and challenge if it is believed to infringe upon his fundamental rights.
The principles of justice and the rule of law are fundamental pillars of a democratic society. It is imperative that these principles are upheld and protected at all times. The right to bail is not a privilege to be granted or revoked at the whim of those in power, but a fundamental right that must be respected and safeguarded.

NAN Condemns Governor Dauda Lawal's Comments on Judiciary
By Editor
The Northern Awareness Network (NAN) is deeply troubled by the recent comments made by Zamfara State Governor Dauda Lawal regarding the nation's judiciary.
We find Governor Lawal's remarks to be not only indecent but also damaging to the reputation of the judiciary and the overall governance of the state.
In a statement released by its chairman Salihu Suleiman expressed profound concern over Governor Lawal's claims that the court was being influenced by powerful individuals to release accused bandits on bail.
Suleiman described these remarks as filled with hate and a blatant disregard for the principles of justice and constitutionalism. It is disheartening to witness a state governor undermining the rule of law and the independence of the judiciary for his own political gain.
We believe that Governor Lawal's irresponsible behavior and baseless accusations are not only damaging his own reputation but also eroding the public's trust in the government of Zamfara State. Instead of focusing on pressing security and governance issues, Governor Lawal has chosen to engage in petty politics and attacking the justice system of the country.
It is evident that Governor Lawal is more concerned with assigning blame and discrediting his predecessor than supporting federal efforts to enhance security in Zamfara State. This behavior is not befitting of a leader and does a disservice to the people of the state who are looking for stability and progress.
As concerned citizens, we call on Governor Lawal to recognize the error of his ways and conduct himself with integrity and honesty.
True leadership is about uplifting and empowering those around you, not tearing them down with baseless allegations.
We urge Governor Lawal to return to responsible and respectful governance, focus on strengthening the community and working towards the betterment of Zamfara State rather than engaging in divisive and harmful rhetoric.
PDP Kebbi Chasing Shadows Again
By Editor
The PDP in Kebbi state has developed a habit of baseless criticism towards the successes achieved by APC government, throwing unwarranted attacks without substantial evidence. Despite its failure at sowing the seed of discord between the government and the people and also trying, in another failed antics to discredit the development-oriented Governor and his Deputy with false accusations, it is a thing of joy that the people of Kebbi saw through these tactics and rejected the serial election loser.
Despite their previous failure, the PDP persists in its derogatory approach. Their recent press release, feigning concern for workers in the state and telling workers to “take heart and bear with the insensitivity of the government in Kebbi State” on matters of Sallah festival, is merely a facade to criticize a government decision aimed at protecting civil servants from unnecessary financial strain. The government's move to discourage early loan collection during Sallah festivities was intended to ensure long-term financial stability for workers, a fact conveniently overlooked by the insincere PDP.
The PDP's claims about other states providing loans for festivities very early in the month ignore the massive debts owed to workers in those same states. Their selective criticism reveals a lack of sincerity and fails to recognize the remarkable progress achieved under the current administration in Kebbi State.
The PDP's refusal to acknowledge the government's unparalleled achievements under just a year demonstrates their desperation and inability to come to terms with their lack of support from the people. Instead of appreciating the infrastructural development and financial commitment made by the state government, the PDP chooses to dwell on negativity.
The Kebbi State Government's commitment to sustainable salary payment and plans for increased wages should be commended, rather than undermined by misguided criticism from the opposition. The government's focus on long-term fiscal solutions for workers reflects a genuine concern for their well-being. The plan for wage increase and governments effort to sustain pension, gratuity and leave grant payment which has become a tradition in the state is sacrosanct and dear to the governor that nothing will be allowed to imperil it,
Governor Nasir Idris's track record of advocating for workers' rights is well-known, and his dedication to improving conditions for teachers and civil servants is evident. The people of Kebbi are encouraged to continue supporting his leadership, recognizing his efforts to address longstanding challenges and propel the state forward.
In conclusion, the Kebbi State Government's initiatives are geared towards overcoming past obstacles and fostering a brighter future for all residents. It is imperative to focus on constructive dialogue and genuine progress rather than baseless criticism.
