The Apex Igbo Sociocultural Organization, Ohanaeze Ndigbo has congratulated President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Mr. Mele Kolo Kyari, the Group Chief Executive Officer (GCEO) of the Nigeria National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC Ltd) for their resolute decision-making and exemplary resolve in addressing the persisting inefficiencies and alarming operational failures entrenched within the higher echelons of NNPC Ltd.

A Statement issued by Mazi Okechukwu Isiguzoro  Secretary General  Ohanaeze Ndigbo  said such decisive leadership intervention is a powerful testament to their commitment to restructuring, realigning, and reinvigorating this vital institution, which holds the keys to Nigeria's energy future and, by extension, its economic stability.

"The news of the sacking of top executives in NNPC Ltd has reverberated across the nation, inciting expressions of optimism and jubilation among Nigerians from all walks of life. This decisive response to the rampant challenges faced by NNPC Ltd exemplifies political courage—a critical move that promises to usher in a new era of accountability and performance in the management of our national oil company.

"As citizens grapple with unbearable inflation rates and skyrocketing prices of petroleum products that have severely impacted the cost of living, the timely dismissal of these individuals renews hopes and alleviates some of the collective despair that has gripped the populace.

Ohanaeze Ndigbo expressed their form stand in its advocacy for systemic change within NNPC's leadership framework, having previously highlighted the urgent need for a strategic overhaul given the multiple years of operational stagnation and subpar executive oversight, adding that the recent dismissals of Umar Ajiya, former Chief Financial Officer, and Oritesemeyiwa Eyesan, former Vice President (Upstream), are candidly seen as pivotal and crucial maneuvers that signify the administration's unwavering commitment to rooting out inefficiencies and promoting excellence in our nation's petroleum sector.

"We duly note and commend the illustrious leadership displayed by President Tinubu and Mr. Kyari in executing these necessary changes. The strategic removal of individuals who have consistently failed to meet performance expectations demonstrates a profound understanding of the urgency required to transform NNPC Ltd into a world-class entity capable of matching its peers globally".

Ohanaeze Ndigbo extended their heartfelt congratulations to Mr. Adedapo Segun, the newly appointed Chief Financial Officer; Mr. Isiyaku Abdullahi, the new Executive Vice President (Downstream); and Mr. Udobong Ntia, the new Executive Vice President (Upstream).

"These conscientious leaders have a monumental responsibility ahead of them, one that demands they prioritize the collective welfare of NNPC Ltd and, by extension, all Nigerians, above individual or sectional interests. The nation anticipates their innovative solutions and transformative strategies that will elevate NNPC’s operational efficacy in alignment with the administration's vision and the pressing needs of the citizenry.

The Secretary General articulated that as a pressure group, they are resolute in their scrutiny of NNPC Ltd's actions and decisions, stressing that the Igbo people, as chief economic drivers in Nigeria's economy, understand that the efficient production, distribution, and pricing of petroleum products are paramount to our survival and prosperity. Our vigilance ensures that the interests of our people remain paramount in discussions surrounding energy policy and corporate governance at NNPC Ltd.

Furthermore, the Igbo apex group commended Mr. Kyari for exhibiting unwavering determination in ramping up crude oil production to a remarkable 1.8 million barrels per day—an impressive achievement in the annals of NNPC Ltd. Nonetheless, we emphasize the critical need for a focused strategy on rehabilitating the beleaguered refineries in Warri, Kaduna, and elsewhere.

"The effective operationalization of these facilities is not only crucial for ensuring energy security but also for maximizing the nation’s oil output potential and stabilizing prices for the Nigerian consumer" the.group added.

"Ohanaeze Ndigbo expresses steadfast optimism in the transformative potential of the new leadership at NNPC Ltd. The recent changes represent an opportunity to recalibrate and enhance the operational integrity of this vital sector, ensuring greater accountability, efficiency, and service delivery to the Nigerian people. With unity and an unwavering commitment to excellence, we can stride confidently towards eventual revitalization and growth".

NAN Commends NNPC Ltd Reforms

The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC Ltd) has been commended for undergoing significant transformations under the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and its Managing Director Mr. Mele Kyari, aimed at bolstering its operational efficiency, financial stability, and global competitiveness.

These efforts have garnered praise from various stakeholders, including the Northern Awareness Network (NAN), a prominent advocacy group dedicated to promoting the interests of the northern region.

The NAN, in a recent statement issued by its chairman Salihu Sulaiman, commended the recent restructuring of the NNPC Ltd, which saw the discharge of certain officers and the appointment of new leaders based solely on expertise and merit. This move, according to the NAN, signals a commitment to achieving operational excellence and financial sustainability, crucial elements for the company's success in the highly competitive international oil and gas market.

"The NAN is particularly impressed by Mr. Kyari's dedication to fulfilling the aspirations of the organization and the nation at large. His commitment to operational excellence, financial sustainability, and global competitiveness is seen as a testament to his effective leadership and visionary approach.

The NAN urged Mr. Kyari to remain steadfast in his pursuit of these goals, ensuring that the NNPC Ltd continues to play a pivotal role in driving Nigeria's energy sector forward."

The NAN also commended the decisive leadership demonstrated by President Tinubu and the nation's security agencies in implementing these reforms.

These crucial steps are seen as vital in strengthening the NNPC Ltd and revitalizing Nigeria's energy sector. The NAN believes that these reforms will not only lead to improved financial performance but also contribute to the broader economic prosperity of the nation.

In addition to commending the efforts in the energy sector, the NAN emphasized the importance of addressing challenges in other key sectors, particularly agriculture. The organization urges the Federal Government to extend its commitment to reforms and prioritize the agricultural sector.

This, the NAN believes, is crucial in ensuring the nation's self-sufficiency in food production and achieving overall economic prosperity. The NAN envisions a future where Nigeria can not only meet its energy needs but also become a leader in food production, contributing to the well-being of its citizens and the global community.

The NAN is dedicated to working collaboratively with the government and other stakeholders to achieve these goals and ensure a brighter future for all Nigerians. The organization believes that through proactive engagement and collective efforts, Nigeria can overcome its challenges and emerge as a strong and prosperous nation.

The NAN's support for the NNPC Ltd reforms is a testament to its commitment to promoting the development of the North and Nigeria as a whole.

The Arewa Youth Consultative Forum (AYCF) has commended the recent decisive actions taken by the Federal Government under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, in collaboration with the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Ltd (NNPC Ltd), aimed at enhancing operational efficiency and strengthening its position in the global oil and gas industry.

AYCF in a statement issued by it's President General Yerima Shettima said, they are particularly impressed by the bold leadership displayed by the Managing Director of NNPC Ltd, Mele Kyari, who has demonstrated his commitment to driving positive change within the company.

Shettima said, the forum acknowledges the significant strides made by the NNPC Ltd under Mr. Kyari's leadership, adding that the recent discharge of certain officers and the appointment of new leaders, focused on expertise and merit, signifies a clear commitment to achieving operational excellence and financial sustainability.

He acknowledged that such move will undoubtedly boost the company's competitive edge in the international oil and gas market.

"We are particularly proud of Mr. Kyari's commitment to fulfilling the aspirations of the AYCF and the entire nation. His dedication to operational excellence, financial sustainability, and global competitiveness is a testament to his leadership and vision. We urge him to remain steadfast in his pursuit of these goals, ensuring that the NNPC Ltd continues to play a pivotal role in propelling Nigeria's energy sector forward.

"We also applaud the unwavering efforts of our nation's security agencies in safeguarding the sanctity of NNPC Ltd assets. Their dedication and commitment have ensured that Nigeria continues to export about 2 million barrels of crude daily, contributing significantly to the nation's economy.

"This commitment to security is essential for the continued success of the NNPC Ltd and the broader energy sector.

Shettima further said that the AYCF is optimistic that the positive changes at the NNPC Ltd will ultimately translate into tangible benefits for the Nigerian people, believing that with them rate of performance so far, petroleum products will be available and accessible at affordable prices, alleviating the hardships experienced by Nigerians, and will bring much-needed relief to citizens struggling with rising fuel costs and fuel scarcity.

"While we commend the bold moves in the energy sector, the AYCF believes that the same sense of urgency and commitment to reform needs to be applied to other vital sectors, particularly agriculture. Just as the NNPC Ltd is playing a vital role in achieving energy security, the agricultural sector holds the key to ensuring food security and economic prosperity for Nigerians.

"We urge the Federal Government to prioritize the agricultural sector with the same level of focus and resources dedicated to the NNPC Ltd, ensuring that the nation's food production reaches its full potential.

"The AYCF commends the decisive leadership shown by President Tinubu, the NNPC Ltd management under Mr. Kyari, and the nation's security agencies. We believe that these reforms are crucial steps towards strengthening the NNPC Ltd and revitalizing Nigeria's energy sector. We urge the Federal Government to extend this same commitment to the agricultural sector, ensuring that the nation achieves self-sufficiency in food production and overall economic prosperity".

He expressed the commitment and dedication of the forum to working with the government and all stakeholders to achieve these goals and ensure a brighter future for all Nigerians.

Call For INEC Chairman Professor Yakubu's Removal Mischievous

The Arewa Youth Consultative Forum (AYCF) has described the recent resurgence of calls for the removal of the National Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Professor Mahmood Yakubu is mischievous.

A statement issued by the President General of the forum Yerima Shettima said, "the calls, primarily emanating from discontented politicians who view power as an end in itself, are not only misguided but also detrimental to the democratic fabric of our nation.

In recent weeks, we have witnessed a cacophony of voices, driven by self-interest and political opportunism, clamoring for the ousting of Professor Yakubu. Such demands are rooted in a profound misunderstanding of the role of INEC and its leadership".

Yerima said, it is imperative to clarify that under Professor Yakubu’s stewardship, INEC has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to the principles of fairness, transparency, and integrity in the electoral process. The commission has consistently upheld the sanctity of our elections, ensuring that the voices of the Nigerian people are heard and respected.

"The integrity of elections is a cornerstone of any democratic society, and the AYCF stands firmly behind INEC’s efforts to fortify this principle. The recent elections, conducted under Professor Yakubu’s guidance, have been characterized by a level of transparency that has not only earned the confidence of the electorate but has also been acknowledged by both local and international observers.

"Contrary to the mischievous and unfounded claims made by his critics, the electoral results reflect the will of the people, a testament to the rigorous processes instituted by INEC.

We take particular exception to the involvement of peripheral figures, such as Lawyer Anthony Ehilebo, who have emerged as hitmen for this unpatriotic project against Professor Yakubu. It is disheartening to witness individuals, driven by ulterior motives, attempting to undermine the credibility of an institution that plays a pivotal role in safeguarding our democracy.

The AYCF categorically condemned such actions and warned that those who engage in such treachery will be held accountable in the fullness of time, adding that it is crucial to recognize that the calls for the removal of Professor Yakubu are not merely an attack on an individual; they represent a broader assault on the democratic process itself.

"Such actions threaten to erode the public’s trust in electoral institutions, which is vital for the stability and progress of our nation. The AYCF implores all stakeholders, including political leaders and the citizenry, to reject these divisive tactics and instead focus on constructive dialogue that fosters unity and progress.

"As we navigate the complexities of our political landscape, we urge President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the INEC Chairman, Professor Mahmood Yakubu, to remain steadfast in their commitment to upholding the rule of law and the democratic principles that bind us as a nation. The integrity of our electoral process must not be compromised by the whims of a few disenchanted individuals".

The AYCF reaffirmed its unwavering support for Professor Yakubu and the Independent National Electoral Commission called upon all Nigerians to rally behind our democratic institutions and reject any attempts to destabilize them. "Let us work together to build a Nigeria where the voices of the people are not only heard but are respected and upheld" the statement.

Stop Sponsoring Protests Against Matawelle Ohanaeze Ndigbo Cautions Zamfara Governor Lawal

The apex Igbo sociocultural organization, Ohanaeze Ndigbo, has condemned the alarming trend of what it termed political witch-hunting directed against Dr. Bello Matawelle, the Minister of State for Defence allegedly by Governor Dauda Lawal of Zamfara State.

A statement issued by Mazi Okechukwu Isiguzoro Secretary General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo said, such unwarranted campaign not only undermines the necessary focus on security and stability but also represents a gross misuse of taxpayer resources.

"The recent orchestrated protests in Abuja, allegedly funded by the Zamfara government, demanding the removal of Dr. Matawelle amidst the ongoing crisis of banditry in the state, are profoundly disheartening. Such actions shift the focus away from the pressing challenges faced by the people of Zamfara, where rampant banditry continues to threaten lives and livelihoods. The deployment of public funds for politically motivated protests is not only unnecessary but an affront to the citizens who suffer under the weight of insecurity".

Ohanaeze Ndigbo called upon Governor Dauda Lawal to recognize that his foremost responsibility as Chief Security Officer of Zamfara is to ensure the safety of all citizens, including the Igbo community that has faced threats, violence, and economic destabilization due to the brazen acts of bandits.

According to the apex Igbo group, engaging in politically charged rhetoric does nothing but exacerbate the existing turmoil and distract from our collective goal of restoring peace and safety in the region.

"The federation has borne witness to the gallant efforts of various stakeholders in the fight against banditry, and it is imperative that Governor Lawal aligns his administration with the Federal Government to formulate and implement actionable strategies that effectively combat these nefarious activities.

"We urge him to close ranks with Dr. Bello Matawelle, setting aside any political differences to enhance security operations aimed at curtailing banditry, which does not discriminate between ethnicities or political affiliations.

The Igbo group affirmed that, "The safety of Igbo traders and other Nigerians in Zamfara must overshadow any political incentives that dictate the actions of our leaders. We have no vested interest in the ongoing political tussles between the PDP and APC; rather, our paramount concern is the welfare and protection of our people who suffer at the hands of bandits.

"It is with great urgency that we advocate for immediate actions that prioritize the lives and businesses threatened by rampant violence in Zamfara. It is time for Governor Dauda Lawal to demonstrate statesmanship by fostering a partnership oriented towards genuine solutions, rather than indulging in a divisive political theater that serves only to further endanger the populace.

Ohanaeze Ndigbo implored Governor Lawal to put aside political vendettas and be a unifying force in the fight against insecurity, stressing that collaboration between the state government and the Federal Government, particularly with figures like Dr. Bello Matawelle, is essential for achieving lasting peace, emphasizing that our collective safety and security must transcend partisan politics; it is both a right and a necessity.

"The path forward demands integrity, cooperation, and an unwavering commitment to the safety of every Nigerian. Let us unite for peace, and let us collectively work towards a resolution that prioritizes the well-being of our communities over political aspirations" the group stated.

NAN Backs Defence Minister Amidst PDP's Disguised Agendas

The Northern Awareness Network (NAN) stands resolutely in support of Defence Minister Bello Mohammed Matawalle in light of the recent politically motivated protests orchestrated by a faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) under the guise of a non-existent group, the APC Akida.

According to a statement issued by the Chairman Salihu Suleiman, the protests, which have been sponsored by discontented elements within the Zamfara State political landscape, are not only an affront to the integrity of our democratic processes but also an attempt to undermine the significant strides made by the federal government in addressing the pervasive issue of insecurity in our region.

"The recent protests, characterized by their politically charged rhetoric, have raised questions about the motivations behind such demonstrations. While dissent is a fundamental aspect of democracy, it becomes problematic when it is driven by ulterior motives, cloaked in the guise of grassroots movements.

"The APC Akida, a name that has surfaced in the political arena, appears to be a phantom entity, lacking a clear mandate or representation. This raises concerns about the authenticity of the protests and the intentions of those orchestrating them.

"The Defence Minister has been a pivotal figure in the ongoing efforts to ensure national security and stability, particularly in the northern regions of Nigeria, where challenges abound.

We wish to remind Governor Dauda Lawal that his actions will not go unnoticed.

"In the fullness of time, he will be called to account for his numerous distractive antics that serve only to hinder the commendable efforts of the federal government and the gallant troops led by Minister Matawalle. It is imperative to recognize that these antics are not merely political posturing; they represent a dangerous diversion that threatens the stability and security of our beloved region and country.

The Northern Awareness Network commended the unwavering commitment and sacrifices of the federal troops, whose bravery has been instrumental in the fight against insecurity. We acknowledge the strong will of President Tinubu, whose leadership has fostered a renewed spirit of cooperation among various security agencies, adding that the collaborative efforts between these agencies, significantly enhanced by Minister Matawalle, have yielded tangible results in the ongoing battle against the forces that seek to destabilize our communities.

"Moreover, we extend our heartfelt appreciation to Nigeria's friends across the globe who have lent their support in this critical fight against insecurity. Their contributions have been invaluable, reinforcing our collective resolve to restore peace and security to our nation. It is through such partnerships that we can fortify our efforts and emerge victorious in this protracted struggle.

As we navigate the complexities of our current security landscape, we urge Minister Matawalle and our security forces to remain vigilant against emerging threats, particularly the rising menace of Lakurawa. This evolving challenge demands a robust and strategic response, grounded in the rule of law and an unwavering commitment to their obligations as custodians of peace.

"It is crucial that their approach to combating these threats is not only decisive but also considerate of the principles of disarmament, demobilization, and reintegration, which are essential for achieving lasting peace in the region.

"Victory in this context will not be defined solely by the defeat of adversaries but rather by the comprehensive cessation of hostilities and the restoration of normalcy in our communities. We must strive for a future where all citizens can live free from fear, where families can thrive, and where the spirit of unity prevails over division".

NAN reaffirmed its unwavering support for Defence Minister Bello Mohammed Matawalle. We call upon all stakeholders to unite in this critical fight against insecurity, to rise above political machinations, and to work collaboratively towards a safer and more prosperous Nigeria.

Sponsored protest against Mattawalle aimed at distabilizing Tinubu Administration—AYCF

The Arewa Youth Consultative Forum (AYCF) have averred that the recent protests and disturbances orchestrated against the Minister of State for Defence, Bello Mohammed Matawalle are not mere expressions of dissent; rather, they form part of a broader scheme aimed at destabilizing the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

AYCF in a statement by it's President General Yerima Shettima alleged that, such orchestrated campaign is being driven by a faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) operating in proxy for the Governor of Zamfara State, Dauda Lawal.

The AYCF in the statement said it recognizes that Matawalle has emerged as a formidable voice for the President in Northern Nigeria, adding that his unwavering commitment to the security and well-being of our communities has made him a target for those who perceive his influence as a threat.

"The recent protests are a desperate attempt by these perpetrators to undermine his credibility and, by extension, the integrity of President Tinubu's administration. It is evident that they see Matawalle’s steadfastness and dedication as significant obstacles to their political ambitions, which is why they are hell-bent on orchestrating his downfall.

"President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's decision to retain Matawalle in his cabinet is a powerful endorsement of the Minister's performance and contributions to national security. In an era where political machinations often overshadow genuine governance, President Tinubu has demonstrated remarkable foresight and courage by standing firm with Matawalle despite the relentless challenges posed by the PDP faction, which has been masquerading as the APC Akida.

"This group, under the influence of Governor Dauda Lawal, has sought to exploit the political landscape for their gain, leveraging misinformation and incitement to create discord" Shettima stated.

AYCF urged the Minister of State to remain undistracted by the provocations, stressing that his track record in combating banditry and ensuring the safety of the people speaks volumes about his capabilities and dedication.

"The recent threats posed by the Lakurawa and other criminal elements should be met with the same tenacity and resolve that he has exhibited in the past. Matawalle’s leadership has been pivotal in the fight against insecurity, and we have every confidence that he will continue to rise to the occasion".

The AYCF called upon all stakeholders, particularly the youth of Northern Nigeria, to recognize the larger implications of these protests and disturbances, adding that it is imperative that they remain vigilant against divisive tactics that seek to undermine our collective progress, saying the unity of our region and the stability of our nation depend on our ability to discern between genuine grievances and politically motivated attacks.

"We reaffirm our unwavering support for Bello Mohammed Matawalle and urge him to persist in his vital work for the security of our communities. The AYCF stands ready to mobilize our members and allies in defense of our leaders who are committed to the welfare of our people. Together, we will confront the challenges ahead and ensure that the forces of destabilization do not prevail" the forum assured.
