HEALTH EFFECT OF PLASTIC RICE CONSUMPTION

Plastic rice is gradually finding it way into Nigeria as a dumping ground and some people might never know how dangerous it consumption is. Plastic rice production originated from China and was previously sold  to countries in Asian countries like  Korea, Japan , Singapore, Philippine and in the west.

The  fake rice  is made from a mixture of plastic, sweet potatoes and extract of synthetic hydrocarbon secretion known as  resin which it end product appeared in rice shape.

The must surprising aspect of the plastic rice is that from a mere look, one can hardly differentiate it from original. Its advisible to make a further examination on any rice bought for consumption in order to be on a safer side.

If the rice is unbagged , it will be time saving to smell whether it has chemical odour or not. for further examination, a plastic rice can easily be identified by roasting in a frypan to see whether it melt or not. it can also be identified  by boiling , if the rice have plastic substance two reactions occur, firstly, it looks sticky on the surface, and no matter the how much amount of time dedicated in boiling, it never soften due to plastic substance contained in it. Gistandrhymes.com

continuous consumption of a fabricated rice, leads to hormonal disorder , indigestion and liver cancer. According to Deccan Chronicle Blog ,Experts say that the invasion of plastic foods substance  into body system is one of the causes for early advent of diseases.

To make the situation  worse ,  it recent importation into Nigeria was coincidental with recession  period and as the yulitide season  is on, it might be consumed by majority of people without their knowledge.

SAMBISA FOREST WILL BE OUR TRAINING GROUND IN 2017- BURATAI

Lt. Gen. Tukur Buratai, on Monday in Damasak Borno State while celebrating Christmas with 145 battalion troops , said Sambisa forest will be one of Nigerian Army's training ground in 2017.

Sambisa forest happens to be one of the Bokoharam's hide out which was reconnoitered and besieged by The Nigerian army before Christmas.

Gen. Buratai said Troops are already conducting mopup operations in the forest to clear to clear the reminant of Bokoharam. He  also said Nigerian army will ensure that Bokoharam terrorist never returns to Sambisa forest again.

He added that the forest will be used to test weapons  and other fighting equipments and road leading to Sambisa  and Alagarno  forest will be forged.

“We are also opening up roads to Sambisa and Alagarno forest.
Sambisa Forest is going to be one of our training grounds. I have already directed that we should conduct Nigerian Army small arms
championship in that forest next year.

“And we are going to use it also to test our fighting vehicles, other key
equipment and weapons that require testing whenever we want to induct new weapon and equipment into the
Nigerian Army inventory.

“It will afford us a very good ground for basic tactics and indeed advance tactics, including but not limited to tactics at the Platoon, company, battalion, brigade and even division levels. We are going to make it more robust to make sure that these criminals do not come back to that forest again.”

LETTER TO NIGERIAN LOCAL MARKETS

Dear Local market,
As the embittered Naira struggles to Upgrade against dollar , You have little or no relationship with the naira -Dollar  saga.
I observed that there is rapid increment in prices of your items that are grown, harvested and packed in Nigeria, such as Garri, rice, Beans  and among others.
This is another phase of unjust and intolerable  puzzling situation that needs serious attention before you(local market)  form an ally with dollar (the external force)   to collectively  deal with or punish  ordinary Nigerians for an offence they know nothing about.
It is quite shocking and disheartening at this moment that the price of  commodities  are as twice the amount usually been purchased. What Surprised me most was earlier this afternoon when I asked for the price at which a bag of sachet pure water is been sold  not knowing that the the price had jumped from 60 or 70 naira to #150  per bag. Then I began to imagine what exactly is happening? But at the end I arrived at a thought provoking conclusion that 'you' the local market is seizing the opportunity of Nigeria's Economic  quagmire to infiltrate and hike the price of food items and other home made commodities.  What an opportunistic coincidence!.  Perhaps I stand to be corrected.
But before you (local market) join hands with the evil economic force to pulverize the nation, let me  call on the attention of the government and Nigerians  to kick against the cut throat prize of local items as the masses are currently suffering from stomach infrastructural disease.

NIGERIANIZATION OF SPECIAL AVISERS

By Alabi Abdul.

It is only in Nigeria we have frivolous permutation of appointments like great grand special adviser, senior assistant , junior assistance , junior special adviser, paternal and maternal assistant , special adviser on Ram and what other names have you - feeding fat under government's parastatal and payroll.

Unfortunately , almost all 36 the states iñ Nigeria are guilty of this untenable appointment which accounted for 3,600 appointees across the federation, working directly or indirectly under Governors. At first instance, i found the revelation hard to believe but The recent 230 special Adviser appointed by governor Dankwambo eliminated my doubt.

The survey recently conducted by NAN unearthed the level of joblessness and redundance among some  advisers and assistant on payroll of Government. Interestingly, some are even without office, But are rest assured to be remunerated at the end of the month, since they happened to be cronies who rallied round and campaigned for them.

For the benefit of ordinary  Nigerians and for the economic recession's sake,  it is pertinent for government to convert the benefit for the chosen ones to benefit for all.

At this critical moment, automatically every Tom, Dick and Harry in Nigeria is an adviser. Every Nigerian is a chosen one!!

NATIONAL ASSEMBLY IS NOT BROKE

As I read about the national Assembly's broke situation , I reminisced about the old days in school (university to be precise) , where most students spend extravagantly at the first few weeks of resumption. My fellow Yorubas name those first few weeks " òse ìgberagá". A.K.A the 'show yourself week'.

Personally , I also remembered that it's only when am broke the 'Baba sala' Bournvita, cartons of indomie ,milk and other goodies is substituted with sweet potatoes and Garri ( the student's  power), with a rigorous eatings "garau-garau" - only my Arewa fellows can understand the logic behind that.

Although student's extravagance behaviour , similar in nature but unconnected in a real sense I discussed at the begining has been in existence from the inception of our so called (mismanagement Assembly) or National Assembly rather, but it took a different turn this time around as Nigeria is facing serious  economic hardship.
With the recent outburst of the senate leader Ali Ndume , that the National Assembly is broke, I discovered that these economic hardship has held both the serfs and the lords by the jugular. But if am not wrong , since National Assembly has failed to save against rainy days ,may I say its too early for the senate leader's outcry for their brokenness?
One of the most outstanding and  superfluous  act  exercised by  the 8th National Assembly is the purchase of over 4.7 billion Naira Exotic cars for 120 'Sin-ators' as of December last year. The confusing aspect  was  the purchase of 120 cars for 109 Sin-ators.  If not for prodigal display at its hightest peak,  what purpose will the remaining eleven utility vehichles  serve?

Interestingly, the result of  market survey estimate conducted by Premium Times regarding the vehicles purchased by National Assembly does not even correspond with the  regular market price. For the fact that the allagation was prevaricated by senate does not change the matter. Either small or big , extravagance remains thesame. Who knows ,  if not for  the outragious budget saga, this should have been the most visible and exotic padding of the year.
As if that was not enough,  the senate leader discontentedly lament over late payment of  just a month salary. Sincerely speaking  there's no how a legislative worker can be broke, compared to an ordinary  school teacher, talk less of the salary differences.. As at present, majority of  civil servants at lower levels, especially the school teachers and local government workers are yet to be paid over 6-8 months salary( peanut) in some states, despite the bailout offered by F.G.- Kogi is a perfect example, where  workers simply jubilate over receiving just a  10% of two or one month salary, out of 6-9 months they were  owed.

Atimes the enormity of money earmarked for executives and legislators arouses my curiosity on whether they were specially created by God to enjoy while others are meant to suffer.
I must conclude with the opinion that National Assembly's  expenditure is too execessive. As such,it should be thorougly scrutinized and repudiated by Nigerians."Ibi kan ko jù ibi lo, Bi àse bì erù ni  á bi omo" -  Both executives and legislators, and school teachers should be almost or equally renumerated.
