By Editor
The All Progressives Congress (APC ) northwest youths have assured the presidential candidate of the party, Asiwaju Ahmed Bola Tinubu of 12 to 14 million votes from the northwest zone, ahead of the 2023 presidential election.
It would be recalled that the party polled 7.1 million in 2015 votes and 5.9 million votes from the region in 2019.
In a statement by the APC Northwest youth leader, Hon. Abdulhamid Umar Muhammad he said already, youth leaders from Katsina, sokoto, kebbi, Kaduna, Zamfara , Jigawa and kano states are currently penetrating the grassroots to preach the gospel of Tinubu/Shetima to people.
He said, " our target is to give the APC Presidential candidate at least 10 million votes in North west, as people from the region are aware that both Tinubu and Shetima took care of business in their states as governors and we can all see the dividends in the respective states they governered."
On the APC presidential candidate's track records, Muhammad noted on a national level, Asiwaju has built many youths, who are occupying different leadership positions, adding that, "his footprints of empowerment are everywhere. Therefore, We from the northwest are working assidously to ensure Tinubu becomes the president , because he represents prosperity, capacity, development, and prosperity."
"We are confident that Asiwaju's excellent performance in Lagos as a governor, in area of the academics, governance and administration, will be replicated to address the challenges confronting this nation."
Reacting to the protest against the joint muslim ticket by the Coalition of APC Stakeholders network and Southwest Suppprters of Tinubu, the Muhammad said the presidential candidate made the right choice by choosing Senator kashim Shetima as his running mate.
He described Shettima as an experienced and intelligent younger nationalist who whose eight years as governor of Borno State – from 2011 to 2019 – was a defining moment for the state.
According to Muhammad, "as a matter of fact, just like Asiwaju, Senator Shetima was eqaullaly succeded by one of the best performing governors kn the country, in person of Govnor Babagana Zulum.
"Shettima who is economically sound with vast experience in the banking sector, has all it takes to move the country forward with the APC presidential flag bearer.
We believe Asiwaju Tinubu settled for one of the best hands for the job of Nigeria’s Vice-President.
"We appeal to Nigerians to shun religious acrimony and sentiments as 2023 general election is approaching, saying good candidate and performances should be the yardstick in the interest of a united, peaceful and prosperous Nigerian."

Northern group says Wamakko behind mass defections from PDP to APC
By Editor
The Arewa Paradigm Shift (APS) has described the recent mass defections from the PDP to APC in Sokoto State as part of the strategies of Senator Aliyu Magatakarda Wamako and "other key stakeholders renewed effort to reposition the opposition party ahead of the 2023 general elections".
The group recalled that "the first move towards the repositioning agenda spearheaded by Senator Wamako was seen when Alhaji Ibrahim Gidado, Special Adviser to Governor Aminu Tambuwal dumped the ruling PDP for the APC.and declared allegiance to the APC.
The group, in a media statement signed by its Director of Mobilization, Alhaji Adamu Musa Illela, said the leadership of opposition APC has met on several occasions in Sokoto "to share brilliant ideas on how best to boost the political fortunes of the opposition party and has swung into action already".
The group explained that Gidado, who was a former member of the state House of Assembly representing Sokoto South State Constityency 1, along with his supporters defected from the PDP for worrisome lack of focus and distrust from its leaders."
The former lawmakers defection along with his loyalists, according to the group was merely "a tip of the ice bag, as the Local Government Chairman of Tangaza Local Local Government, a very close associate of incumbent Governor Tambuwal, Alhaji Salihu Bashar Kalanjine along with 8 councillors of the council, also left for the APC in one swoop".
The statement noted that "more bigwigs of the ruling PDP are set to dump it soon, as the Wamako and party executives improvise on existing mobilization strategies".
The group then noted that "a new dawn in the history of Sokoto State opposition politics is already here, as Governor Tambuwal's Commissioner for Careers and Security Matters, Colonel Garba Moyi Isa (rtd) has defected from the ruling PDP government in Sokoto to the APC, citing instances of lack of focus and trust issues related to governance in the State.
