Non Governmental Organisations in Kebbi State, Girls Talk on Education, Safety and Health (G-Toesh) and Beautiful Minds Foundation For Reproductive Health incollaboration with Nafisa Nasir Charity Development Foundation (Nanas), have sensitized Secondary School students on Mensural Hygiene in Kebbi State.
Speaking at the occasion held at Presidential Lodge on Tuesday, in Birnin Kebbi, the Wife of the state governor, Hajiya Nafisa Nasir Idris and founder of NANAS foundation, couseled female students on mensural sanitary hygiene in both school and home during mensual period.
Hajiya Nafisa encouraged the students on the need to beindful of hygiene to avoid infection during and after mensual discharge.
She also called on women to consider antennatal care during pregnancy as a necessary path to safe delivery and a means to avoid complications during birth.
The state Commissioner for Women Affairs, Hajiya Halima Hassan Kamba, observed that, most student don't realise the impact of unsecured disposal of mensual sanitary parths in schools which may result to having contact with infectious diseases.
She, therefore, cautioned students against having contact with men after mensual period to avoid pregnancy.
In their separate remarks, the heads of the NGOs, Fatima Bazata, (G-Toesh), Dr. Sa'ad Zubairu (Beautiful Minds Foundation) and Alhaji Aminu Attahiru (Nanas Foundation), described the sensitisation as timely when a lot of women had issues but could not voice out their minds.
They said, the organisations were on common mission and vision of assisting women in skills and education in the state.
